The Faculty of Infectious Diseases effectively addresses infectious disease threats to species and economies world wide by integrating multidisciplinary research in animal, human, and ecosystem health, and by developing successful countermeasures, including vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics.

The Faculty of Infectious Diseases (FID) is composed of faculty, junior scientists, and industry partners who share a common goal to increase understanding of the basic biology of infectious agents, their interactions with human and animal hosts, their natural ecology, and the epidemiology of the diseases they cause, and to apply this knowledge to improving the detection, control and prevention of infectious diseases.
